Here is the latest update from an official site: July 27, 2014 at 9:46 AM Air attack reports that good progress has been made, containment lines are holding and looking good. These friends were under mandatory evacuation in the River Pines area and that was lifted. We arent seeing the huge plume of smoke but we are smelling more smoke now than earlier this morning. One of my barometers for measuring the severity of the situation yesterday was the behavior of the alpacas...our and the ones brought in. Yesterday they were very agitated and didnt want to settle down. Which that behavior seems logical considering the stress they were under. None of the alpacas wanted to go into the barn...we had to move their food to the outside fields. This morning all alpacas seem much more relaxed, as do our dogs. They are entering the barn to eat, cushed and chewing their cud.
