Heres an update on the mare I posted about with the head tossing issue. We took her to the vet today. He does chiropractic work and said she had neck issues she was holding in her back. She also needs her teeth done which will be done on Thurs. No riding for 48 hours and see where we go after the ride. She may need another treatment. On this site I dont worry about it so much but, Id like to reiterate, listen to the horse and look at the whole picture especially the personality. If you have a totally sweet horse who is acting up, Im guessing its a pain issue. What I didnt know until after my first two rides was that she hadnt been ridden in 8 months. Under the circumstances, she could have been so much worse. Kind riding, training, and teaching is of the utmost importance. This horse could have been ruined in the wrong situation.
