Heres one that may be of interest to New England fans... Back in 1984, there was a band called Bronz who covered Dont Ever Wanna Lose Ya on their album Taken By Storm. While it lacks the power and finesse of the original, its still a credible attempt, and Im sure there are plenty of you whove likely never heard this before, or even knew it existed. Truth be told, Id nearly forgotten about it, myself, until I came across the album in my collection the other day. Knew Id have to post it for the rest of you to check out. Bronz were a UK band from Bath, England and part of the New Wave Of British heavy Metal movement of the early 80s. Comprised of Chris Goulstone (Guitars/Keyboards/Voclas), Shaun Krikpatrick (Guitars/Vocals, Paul Webb (Bass/Vocals), Gary Matthews (Drums) and Max Bacon (Lead Vocals). Their debut album Taken By Storm was released on the UK label Bronze records in 1984, via a distribution deal with Island Records. The main single off the album was the song “Send Down An Angel”, the video of which video included a then unknown actress Emma Thompson as its star. They spent three months touring the United States – including a short stint with Ratt, before their record label folded. With no better prospects on the horizon, the band followed suit soon after. The bands cover of Dont Ever Wanna Lose Ya on this album, featured bassist Paul Webb on lead vocals, instead of normal singer Max Bacon. Max Bacon would find success a couple of years later, with the ex-Genesis and Yes pairing of Steven Hackett and Steve Howe in GTR. You can hear his voice on their the Top 40 hit When the Heart Rules the Mind. When GTR split-up, he then lent his immaculate tonsils to the all-star Phenomena project. youtu.be/Y9dkcJEUqiE
