Hey hey my lovelies, come on in a while and sit. I have something - TopicsExpress

Hey hey my lovelies, come on in a while and sit. I have something Id like to share with you because when I thought about it it flicked a light switch on within me and maybe it will for you too. Help yourSelf to tea. Its over there on that blue table. Youre welcome...... A friend said, Dawn, I feel like my life is one long self-improvement project. Im so over it but how else will I ever reach my own potential? That question triggered something in me. I knew what she had said was off. I knew it was off. But reaching down into the mists of why, it seemed that my arms werent long enough to reach the knowing. It remained outside of my grasp. So be it. I left it alone. A few days later, I was working with someone else when it came to me, the critical distinction between self-improvement and wanting more for yourself. It might seem a slim difference, not that important, but in reality, its a universe wide, a hearts truth deep, and you can lose yourself for years in the gap in-between. Self-improvement - the kind that doesnt serve you - is based on the belief that you arent okay as you are. That there is something in you that needs to be fixed. That if only you could change _________ (your eating habits, your depression, your energy, your bank account) then youd finally be __________ (happy, lovable, able to create, able to relax). Self-improvement deals in brokenness and in the fantasy that when you accomplish X, you will become a completely different person who never relapses into her old patterns. Wanting more for yourself is rooted in knowing that you are at, your core, sustainable goodness. To decide to work on aspects of yourSelf and your life because it is useful and freeing, because it brings more joy to you and those you love, is fantastic. To decide to do so to make yourself okay, enough, lovable, is to set yourSelf upon an endless path of despair. Your potential isnt something to be reached, its something to be trusted. You are it all along. Your potential is life pulsing in you, saying, Let me out to express myself. Yes, you have to focus to develop your gifts so you can give that life pulsing through you the opening to express itSelf, or rather relax the limiting beliefs that say you cant, but theres no secret, no short cut, no exclusive something you have to know or buy from anyone else. Honest. Youre the expert on you. Know thySelf. So....self improvement. What do you think?
