Hey, we’re Shell, and if it’s all the same to you, we’d like to respectfully request more time to continue our bumbling in the Arctic. Is that cool? That’s essentially the question Shell is asking right now, despite the fact that the oil giant’s Arctic program has spent more than $6 billion over the better part of the last decade finding new and improved ways to shoot itself in the foot. And now, with time running out on its Arctic leases, Shell would like the federal government to put a little time – or 5 years – back on the clock.
