Hi Cherry Beach lovers, First I want to say that the parties at Cherry Beach continue to be one of the highlights of summer leisure activities in Toronto, and last night proves that the organizers are finding new ways to surprise. The one thing that is really bothering me on this page is the tone surrounding some of the discussions regarding the increase of the price of attendance to $10. Anytime someone brings it up, they get trolled hard and I havent seen anything near a productive discussion on the matter. It is totally understandable that there are questions and concerns about this decision, and I would really like to see some transparency regarding the decision, if this is a not-for-profit enterprise, as so many people are saying. If it isnt a not-for-profit enterprise, I dont think necessarily think the organizers are beholden to taking this step. These are legitimate questions and concerns, and many veteran cherry beach attendees that I know didnt go last night and are considering whether to keep it incorporated as a key part of their summer. You all need to think about who is being kept out, and the demographic you are creating at these events by increasing the price. Last, as someone else brought up earlier, there may be issues regarding the citys requirements for venues that hold events on public property, in relation to charging money for entrance. Im not an expert on this matter, but there might be a contradiction here that needs to be addressed. PS, Im not going to respond to juvenile personal attacks, so dont waste your time.
