Hi everyone just wanted to say thank you for adding me. Im mum to Jack who is 14, we live in Crosshouse and Im sister-in-law to the lovely Jane Kerr (also a member of this group) he was finally diagnosed with ASD at 12 after doctors refused to diagnose 9 years earlier because they didnt believe in labelling kids. We have had many ups and downs and struggles over the years especially in getting Jack the support he needed in primary school but Im glad to say now that he is in Secondary he has come on leaps and bounds and was awarded two certificates at the end of his 2nd year. Jack also has a condition called Dyspraxia which affects his fine motor skills and he has difficulty with things like writing but again he has persevered and got there and hasnt used a scribe much at all. Unfortunately he is also a Type 1 Diabetic, has been for the last 4.5 years, this is where we see most of his meltdowns as he does not like anything done to him medically but we now have a hospital coping kit which we used last week while he had his annual bloods done and it was a huge success. Im so so proud of my son and how far he has come he truly is an inspiration. Anyway hoping that from time to time I can call on you all for some advice and support and I will hopefully try to do the same for you all. Once again thanks for adding me x
