Hijab is an Obligation (Fard) or not? Many persons are still having some problems to accept that Hijab is an Obligation (Fard) even in our Arabic societies. When it comes to duty which doesnt fit their choices, Humankind are in general looking for laws and official texts to obey. Although there are Hadiths and verses testifying that , they still pretend that there is nothing saying clearly it is an obligation (fard). But, I can tell you that It is Fard ( Obligation) and the proof is in Quran , so Allah words ! Allah Subhanahu tell you it is fard and not choice in Surah An Nur : 24 :1) [This is] a surah which We have sent down and made [that within it] obligatory and revealed therein verses of clear evidence that you might remember. The first verse of Surah An’Nur , Allah tell us that the whole Surah is (Fard-Obligation) . So every verse of this Surah is fard “ and made it obligatory”. Allah talk about the surah, not only a verse ! this is clear Now if we read the verse 24: 31 : And tell the believing women to reduce [some] of their vision and guard their private parts and not expose their adornment except that which [necessarily] appears thereof and to wrap [a portion of] their headcovers over their chests and not expose their adornment except to their husbands, their fathers, their husbands fathers, their sons, their husbands sons, their brothers, their brothers sons, their sisters sons, their women, that which their right hands possess, or those male attendants having no physical desire, or children who are not yet aware of the private aspects of women. And let them not stamp their feet to make known what they conceal of their adornment. And turn to Allah in repentance, all of you, O believers, that you might succeed. In this verse it clear, Allah recommend all the believing women to cover , and as we know, now, and agree that in the first verse of Surah AnNur every verse in it is obligation and not only advice or choice. This makes the Hijab, with no doubt , for the Muslimahs an Obligation ! May Allah guide us to wear it properly, Ameen.
