His Excellency , the State president of the Republic of Malawi, Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika has taken another step to coax investors to come to Malawi with the recent meeting he had with George Soros, a Hungarian-born American business magnate,investor, and philanthropist where business agenda was on table earlier today. During the meeting President Peter Mutharika had with George Soros aged 83, ranked 26 in the world list of billionaires by Forbes magazine with a Net worth of $23 Billion, the business magnate and the professor of law cum Malawi President discussed trade, economic and development of Malawi which has seen the duo reaching a conclusion stage of having a deal to work together being reached. George Soros, ranked 19 out of 400 on the list of richest America with a net worth of $ 20 Billion by Forbes Magazine has expressed interest of working with the Malawian nation in different sectors that are crucial in the socio-economic development of the country to improve the livelihood of the majority of Malawians which lives under the poverty line and earns less than a $ a day. President Mutharika stressed on the need of bringing in investors in the country when he left for United states of America, he further pointed out that he was going to have an audience with different business people in America during his visit to convince them invest in Malawi so as to create job opportunities, facilitate economic growth and take part in developing the country. George Soros is the owner and chairman of Open Society Initiative of Southern Africa (OSISA) ,he is a well-known supporter of progressive-liberal political causes who played a significant role in the peaceful transition from communism to capitalism in Hungary between 1984 and 1989.He provided one of Europes largest higher education endowments to Central European University in Budapest. Soros is also the chairman of the Open Society Foundations.
