Hitting a mark O’Malley reaches 1,000 points for Montoursville January 6, 2015 By CHRIS MASSE (cmasse@sungazette) Few understood the pain Kirsten OMalley endured last year. They never knew that every time she jumped, landed or sprinted hard, pain coursed through her body. They could not tell because OMalley, soldiering through a stress fracture in her lower back, kept playing outstanding basketball. The senior rarely missed a game and all that pain, all that frustration, all that fighting came rushing through OMalleys mind as she stood on the threshold of a big milestone Monday at Loyalsock. As a large Montoursville fan section stood and applauded, OMalley dribbled a few times then drained a free throw as an exclusive club welcomed her. OMalley scored her 1,000th career point on that fourth-quarter, free throw and scored 17 points as Montoursville routed Loyalsock, 45-9. The four-year starter became just the fourth player in program history to reach 1,000 points and the first since Tesa McKibben seven years ago. See todays Sun-Gazette for the full story.
