Hockey PEI and the Charlottetown Islanders have teamed up to offer a free Game Day coaching clinic prior to the Islanders home game versus the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles on Sunday, December 1st at the Eastlink Centre. The Charlottetown Islanders staff will present on a wide variety of coaching topics including improving individual skills, team play, game concepts, defensive play and team building. Presenters will include Head Coach – Gordie Dwyer, Assistant Coaches – Luke Beck and Connor Cameron, Goalie Consultant – Paul Drew and General Manager – Grant Sonier. “The Charlottetown Islanders are excited to work with Hockey PEI to provide Island coaches with the opportunity to learn from our staff who are currently coaching at the highest level on PEI,” stated Islanders GM Grant Sonier. “We are pleased to welcome Island coaches to our facility and look forward to sharing our experiences with them.” “We are extremely pleased with the opportunity to have the Islanders coaching staff share some of their experience and insight with our coaches“, stated Hockey PEI President Goops Wooldridge. “We sincerely appreciate the contribution and cooperation of the Islanders hockey team in this endeavor.” The clinic will begin at 10:30am and conclude in time for all participants to attend the Islanders game at 3pm vs the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles. All clinic attendees will be offered a discounted ticket price of $10. Coaches must be currently coaching in the Hockey PEI system in order to attend. The clinic is a professional development opportunity for coaches with no certification attached.
