How Bikram Teacher Training and having a baby are the same: 1) Both are easier if you stay hydrated, but both can also cause nausea and vomiting, as well as bloating and cramping. 2) Sleep deprivation. Lots of sleep deprivation. 3) You are suddenly at the mercy of a very demanding, yet incredibly endearing, totally irrational being. 4) Both make you very hungry and crave things you might not otherwise enjoy. Also both teach you to eat quickly, while standing up and/or multi-tasking. 5) Yoga brain and pregnancy brain are real things that make you equally foggy headed. 6) Unexplained aches appear and disappear and reappear, all for no apparent reason. 7) You learn to tolerate unpleasant smells surprisingly well, 400 sweaty yogis or dirty diapers = all in a days work. 8) Both require you to push, push, push! 9) You stop caring and/or having time to worry about the way you look, it is a miracle if you end up brushing your teeth and hair and putting your clothes on right side out before going out. 10) Lots more laundry than you did before yoga or baby came into your life. 11) Serious lack of privacy/alone time/time to yourself. 12) Night sweats. 13) Emotional releases/breakdowns are a daily occurrence. Joy and sadness usually in equal parts with no real reasoning behind which one and when. 14) Your life will never be the same again. 15) You realize you can do a lot more than you ever thought possible. Your inner strength is limitless!
