How about a little Cinny & Sugar update? Well, Cin is doing - TopicsExpress

How about a little Cinny & Sugar update? Well, Cin is doing great, owning just about the entire rescue pen and every kennel she can get into! She will jump on the kennel door if you dont latch it and escape into the pen to run and play (little scheister). She gets along well with all the dogs here, and respects the fence and does not try to dig or jump out. She is content to see the other dogs through the wire. She loves petting and brushing, and gets quite jealous when she is not the one getting attention! She walks well on a leash, a little timid of transition areas (doorways, gates, etc) Sugar is another story. She is very slowly settling into a groove of cautiousness. She still does not want me to touch her. But she will kiss my entire face until its wet. UNLESS I touch her, then she immediately retreats out of my reach. If I touch a paw, she tucks it under her. If I touch her head, she leans far in the other direction and looks away. However, when I come to the kennel door, she sits confidently directly in front of the door, and allows me to open it and holds her ground. I can leash her without retreat. She has gained much ground on that area, not flying to the far corner to cower and shake like she used to. She walks ok on a leash, transition areas are still very fearful for her. Many normal activities, like shoveling up messes, dishing up food, giving her a new blanket, cause her great anxiety and she bolts around aimlessly without concern for herself. I am working hard on easing her during these times, but its a slow process to break years of bad experiences. Both dogs will take treats from my hand. THIS IS A HUGE TRUST STEP! Both dogs continuously keep their kennels dry! Sugar has been dealing with bouts of diarrhea at night, since Cinnamon returned, the stress of having the boss lady back has taken its toll, but by keeping them separate, she is beginning to ease back to a state of comfort again. Each day I hope Cinnamon leaves to find a home to love her as she should be loved. And each day I hope Sugar will break into someones heart who wants nothing more than to help remove fear from those darting eyes of mistrust she has in us humans. But alas, each day another dawn rises, and they are still here with me......waiting.......in limbo........sleeping in kennels.........and spending days in outdoor runs........until someone steps up to change their lives forever and make them a part of a home.......and part of a family.
