How amazing that a movie about Kapampangan characters performed by Kapampangan actors speaking in straight Kapampangan and directed by a Kapampangan--is being watched, applauded and rewarded all over the world. It has won top awards in New York, in Vietnam, in the Metro-Manila Film festival, in the Gawad Tanglaw and is in all the year-end top 10 best films of the Philippines, and will even get distributed in the US. How much luckier can JASON PAUL LAXAMANA and ALLEN DIZON get? They were our guests in yesterdays Batirulan qng Cafe Juan, the monthly breakfast forum with Capampangan in Media, Inc. (CAMI) led by STAR columnist Federico Pascual, Jr. Jason Laxamana is the moving force behind the annual CineKabalen which showcases the works of young Kapampangan filmmakers. It was the HAU Center for Kapampangan Studies that produced his first-ever Kapampangan film, Anak ning Kapri years ago. As tokens, we presented him and Allen copies of Joel Regalas book on Andres Bonifacios Kapampangan roots (to plant the seeds for a future film?).
