How can you CONTROL an emotion that your ego wont even allow you to RECOGNIZE? Few things are more dangerous than the overdeveloped ego. Pray for and maintain humility and balance on this journey or youll find yourself CREATING and MAINTAINING enemies in the name of false self image-self defense. We must learn to forgive without sacrificing accountability. Perhaps we are so hard on each other to compensate for our inability to hold the ruling class accountable for ANYTHING. The Black professional cant hold the corporate elite accountable for under paying him. The Black gangsta cant hold the criminal injustice system accountable for over sentencing him. NONE OF US HAS EVER HELD THE UNITED STATES ACCOUNTABLE FOR SLAVERY. We have been conditioned to offer white people and their institutions forgiveness with no accountability while we hold each other uber-accountable for the smallest offenses with hardly any forgiveness. We stay on the ready to slap, cuss, kick, stab, and shoot each other over disrespect (we even brag about it, make platinum records about it) but we dont even WANT TO HEAR about holding others accountable for mis-educating our children, harassing our boys, exploiting our communities, and denying us opportunity. Is this a side effect of feeling powerless to overcome oppression? Are we constantly one blow up away from being enemies with each other because were emotionally compensating for not being able to blow up on anyone else? Stick your chest back in brother, until you start checking the Arab on the corner for selling cigars to your son and Cisco to your daughter, you aint hard. Sista, until you check the Korean for selling you over priced hair weave and poisonous relaxers, while actively blocking you from going into the hair business for yourself, you aint real. We bark at everybody but reserve the biting for ourselves. We can rise above self hate. We have to. For our children, we have to. We have to forgive ourselves. We have to forgive each other.
