How important is it that we honor our Father and Mother? Well, - TopicsExpress

How important is it that we honor our Father and Mother? Well, from what I can read, it comes with a promise. Ephesians 6:2-3 Honour thy father and mother; which is the first commandment with promise; That it may be well with thee, and thou mayest live long on the earth. And in Exodus 20:3 Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee. As parents, both my Father and Mother earned my respect and honor through their actions. Good parents TRY to adhere to the tenets set forth in the scriptures. For I know him, that he will command his children and his household after him, and they shall keep the way of the LORD, to do justice and judgment; that the LORD may bring upon Abraham that which he hath spoken of him. Genesis 18:19 And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart: And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up. Deuteronomy 6:6-7 Tell ye your children of it, and let your children tell their children, and their children another generation. Joel 1:3 We will not hide them from their children, shewing to the generation to come the praises of the LORD, and his strength, and his wonderful works that he hath done. Psalm 78:4 He that spareth his rod hateth his son: but he that loveth him chasteneth him betimes. Proverbs 13:24 And, ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord. Ephesians 6:4 Then were there brought unto him little children, that he should put his hands on them, and pray: and the disciples rebuked them. But Jesus said, Suffer little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me: for of such is the kingdom of heaven. Matthew 19:13-14 But here it is. As parents, we have vast responsibilities. We asked for them by becoming parents in the first place. Is it an easy walk? No. Is it worth it? Yes! and if we adhere as closely as possible to the instruction given in the Bible for solid parenting, it might not make us the most popular parents but it will deliver good character to our children. Is it possible to be perfect in this endeavor? No way. But all we can do is try. I know without a doubt I fail. But I am trying and I am reading to learn more and instead of trying to figure out how to do it on MY OWN, why not READ THE DIRECTIONS? It was good enough for my folks. The result? Well I certainly honor my parents. And I consider it a blessing being their son. Will my children have those feeling toward me? I certainly hope and pray they do, but time will tell. All I can do is try. God bless and have an awesome day. Study.
