Wow had the most bestest time ever down home at our wananga at Ruaihona marae. To the facilitators that were there our mourakau tutor Matua Te Kapua Teua, our awesome singing/vocal tutor Jimmy Williams and the Queen of Poi whakapapa and movements and everything to know about Poi Wikitoria. It was such an awesome weekend from beginning to the end the knowledge that I got out of this waa was absolutely amazing. Doing the mourakau to refresh the memory not that I forgot lol to learn how to sing properly and to find what note I am to learn how to do warm ups to help my vocal cords to how to look after my vocal cords with home remedys. Also learning how to blend as a roopu was absolutely amazing. Then to watch Wikitoria do her thing with the Poi and to listen to her talk about the whakapapa of Poi was so so awesome, then to even find out that there are 132 different Poi out there was like really, then to watch her demonstrate how to use 8 different Poi was simply amazing and mesmerizing. Then to even try to give it a go with the roopu was cool but I dont think its for me lol but that is why I am now the new guitarist for our roopu lol so watch out Ngati Awa Ahurei here I come lol. Then to finish our weekend with a lovely catch up with our beautiful aunt Kath at her place was the perfect ending to such amazing weekend. So just want to say thanks to the facilitators and to our tutor Reweti Elliott and to the awesome ringaweras aunt Kathy Kahupora Puutu aunt Sandra Raukura aunt Mihiwai Johnson aunt Whaiora Brown sister Marisse Kohu and cousin Tania, all your fellas meals were absolutely delicious so I thank you from the bottom of my guts nah lol my heart and to the roopu thanks for just being the roopu so from this weekend i will be doing what i need to for our roopu to learn our waiata for our performance. So hope you all have a great night love light.
