I agree that there is a problem with accusing educated or articulate people of talking white, something I was often met with in my youth. However, we also need to respect that there are people who dont have the privilege of an education whereby they learn what I prefer to call standard English, and that does not mean they are not intelligent, smart, or wise. There is also much to be said for retaining what is referred to as Black English Vernacular and the syntax / semantics that reflect our heritage as a multitude of people groups forced to create a hybridized language. Personally, I enjoy being multi-dialectic and I respect the artistry of African-American idioms, colloquialisms, and figures of speech, along with the cadence of delivery. Even more so, it tickles me when they trickle into the mainstream. ;) The point is, just respect people as individuals and dont be so quick to judge.
