I am a very new quilter, I am working from the ground up to hone my skills. Recently Ive been hand piecing and hand quilting to get better at stitching. I really like the process of learning this new skill, and I value the tradition as much as the finished product. That said, I think Im ready to follow a serious pattern and get stuck into making a large, machine pieced quilt. I am looking at a flying geese quilt (obsessing, more accurately!) by the blogger Wasnt Quilt in a Day! and I think Im ready to take this one block at a time. The maker says that she had trouble the first time she tried flying geese, so I am asking here for expert advice! What makes flying geese difficult for a beginner, and how an I be successful? Thanks for any advice! (Will link to the quilt I admire in comments)
