I am a yourkie breeder of 43 years, I have seen the fads, come and go now it seems to be that the knowledgeable breeder is still maintaining the standard set by AKC from 4 to 7 pounds. While the greedy, just to make a dollar ,and young breeders. Not knowing the consequences .are breeding teacups. And as we all know there is no such thing as a teacup Yorkshire AKC considers them tiny. But the public ,the buyers that are spending good money, a lot of times are not told of the problems that they will incur with such a tiny puppy. And I can name off a lot of problems. And yes, a lot of the breeders, unscrupulously will not tell the buyer all the additional care that the puppy is going to take and the health problems that they are prone to. I cant tell you all the calls I get about a puppy that the customer paid good money for some live the year. Some lived 2 to 3 years. I feel that every breeder should give a customer. All this knowledge in advance, the customer should be aware of what they are going to go through.with such a tiny dog. I tell all of my customers, do you really want something that tiny. Sometimes they die under anesthesia having your teeth cleaned. I had one lady called me in tears, saying her husband walked in the front door step down her dog and only took five minutes it was dead. That puppy 2 1/2 lb whether I should give you this information or not?this I have thought long and hard about this and I have changed many peoples minds. After speaking with me., if they wish to proceed in buying such a small puppy. I give them the to do,s and donts,, and all the things theyll need least two weeks and tell them they must take the puppy to the vet within 24 a us and send me or call me with the vets finding after that its good luck if its up to them. I do however, if they call me tell them what they can do for the puppy I have a saying about my dogs, big bold and beautiful Sincerely Elizabeth
