I am not a feminist. May allah keep me away from such a corrupting ideology. May he also wake my sisters up from their colonised mentalities that tells them to shun their own religious traditions in favour of corrupt and alien concepts that are dressed up as emancipation, yet are deeply destructive to their womanhood. By no means is this white washing the problems we have in ummah in terms of the mistreatment of women. However our biggest downfall will come from the fact that we have developed a mentality that tells us that somehow we can not address these issues within an Islamic framework and we require an outside ideology to deal with our problems. It actually makes me cringe when I see muslim women describing themselves as feminist. I used to do it myself. Then I actually realised that my deen is far more superior than some concept dreamed up by white women to tackle inherent problems within their own culture/religion.
