I am not taking the challenge! I want to thank my only sister for tagging me for the ice bucket challenge for ALS. I will be donating to the cause but I will not be pouring water over my head with ice that can hurt my ‘old scalp’. And I won’t wimp out by pouring a few ice cubes in an ice bucket! I am thinking of the many uses for the water being wasted by all those who were tagged and took the challenge. That bucket of water could water plants that grow crops for the hungry, to rinse your vegetables or water your plants, it could be used to wash a car or a dirty kid who hasn’t had a bath in quite a while. It could be used to wash a load of dishes or to flush a toilet or rinse your face after shaving or your mouth after brushing your teeth. Think of the countries and states experiencing droughts. Think of all the thirsty people in the world. With that said, I am challenging those who don’t want to get wet but want to help a cause besides ALS which has now received over $70 million. Let’s spread some of that around to say The American Cancer Society for research on breast and prostate cancer, two issues dear to my heart. How about the Red Cross or Viet Nam or Disabled Veterans?
