I am posting this as i feel some people find it difficult to see why i work with young people, this is only one story, but I have made a possitve impact on alot of young people :) By Jennifer Mustchin For my next bio (I will be doing one for everyone on my friends list) I have chosen (Uncle) Neil Murphy, as I find that he is often under-appreciated for all of the wonderful things that he does. I met Neil at a youth group known only as Da Cool Club *cringe* and in all honesty, it wasnt great. It was on on Tuesday nights and some of the activities were lamer than the name. Despite this Neil never lost enthusiasm and he always tried his hardest to make sure that we had fun. After a while the youth group shut down, but Neil stayed in my life and helped myself and many of my friends to change their lives for the better, meeting with us for coffees in a group and giving us someone to talk to when we felt like nobody cared. In Exodus (the Christian Nightclub in Coleraine) Neil did every job going, whether it was changing light bulbs, cleaning floors or making coffees (he did far more than this, of course) all voluntarily, without expecting recognition or praise for his work. Why did he do this? You may be asking yourself, and only he would know for sure, but, if I had to hazard a guess I would say that Neil is blessed with a kind and compassionate heart. It is in his soul to care and love others, and treat everyone equally regardless of their name, age or actions. This is why he didnt mind it when someone didnt say thank you, or congratulate him on a good job, he knew that somewhere inside them they were thankful, even if they didnt verbalize it. Neil has helped me through many dark times in my life and he is someone I could tell any secret to, and know he would not share it with anyone. He wouldnt hesitate to give someone a second chance, and he isnt afraid of following his dreams, a trait I wish more people could have. Neil, you have done so many great things in your life, and you may not realize it but you changed mine and made it so much better. I know that you will never get to hear all of the stories and youll never know how big a difference you make to the people around you. I will always appreciate what you did for me and how you have brought joy into my life, even when it felt hopeless. Keep doing the wonderful things that you do Neil, and understand that I are so thankful for you allowing me to be part of your life, and I love you, just like so many others. You are an inspiration and role model to many people, including me.
