I am searching my roots. My Grandparents lived in Lithuania and my Mum was born there also. As the story goes, Karl Thier lived on a neighbouring farm to my Grandmother, Erna Wilma Swarz. When Grandpa was a child in WW1, his family fled to Russia. Jewish? I dont know and my oldest Aunt wont tell. He said many times as I was growing up in Canad, that, We couldnt believe how nice the Catholics were to us. My Grandmother, Never felt she deserved to have the Love of Jesus in her life. I think that during WWII, Because they also spoke German, they were able to hide in Lithuania, and when my Grandfather was taken from the farm, the family was taken to another farm in Germany. My Mum says is was a Red Cross refugee camp and since no one has a tatoo, I believe her. I am trying to find out anything I can about my maternal parents. My Grandfathers dad was August Thier and Joseph Swarz, whom was very stern, wore a black coat, wide brim hat and had a long grey beard--believe he was some sort of preacher. ? I believe they are from Igykamus?? excuse the spelling but I think the sound is right. If anyone can help, I would be greatful
