I am so excited for this contest, but for a completely different reason that when I first heard about it. NPR has always brought attention to so many great artists, but those artists have had to get the attention of NPR, first. Now, theyve opened their doors to anyone with the guts and a camera, to be considered by their staff and their listeners. I have never known of a greater resource to find like minded musicians, who would otherwise go way under my radar, than this contest. One of the rules is that you cant be signed to a label. NPR understands that your audience or your ability to market yourself does not make you good. There are so many amazing artists who dont have a huge following, or might not get the attention of a label. Ive always believed that the greatest song has never or will never be heard. But, we should never stop looking for it. Because, that is how we find the things that we didnt even know we wanted. Now that our video is submitted, I can commit the time to listen to the thousand or so other musicians and add them to my collection.
