I brought back such an eclectic assortment of souvenirs back from Europe and it has been impossible to say which has been my favourite find. however, I think this one comes close- an original Delft tile from Amsterdam that I found at an open air market stall. It is all chipped and damaged, but to think that in most likelihood its from the 1600s is pretty amazing I think. The same vintage as this Vermeer painting I saw at the Rijksmuseum there. Apparently children playing was a common theme on tiles all these years ago. I adore how some things dont change. Kids still love to play on swings nearly 400 years later.
