I call this a STATE OF EMERGENCY! What is it in this world that Gambian youths should risk their lives in? How many of our dear brothers, friends and cousins died during this illegal way to Europe? First they allows the North African Arabs to enslave them, second they cant guarantee their safety in the wild waters. The national TV is not sensitizing enough (I believe). You cant read just a few scripts and then connect to CNN or BBC for the rest of the stories. They dont get to the nitty gritty part of it. I feel heart broken seeing people posting condolence messages of these young people. If Africa is that bad to stay home Id still prefer to died peacefully on my mothers bed. Not in the deserts or serve as dinner for the ocean sharks. I feel like reaching out. Make very strong video documentaries, talk to survivors about their ordeals and talk to those closed to the victims. There definitely must be alternatives. Life is too precious to be sacrifice to the desert heat and sharks. I am so sad. very very sad. Lets get this real. Whats the point??
