I came across this vehicle in the current month issue of Top Gear India. In the late 80s we have spotted similar truck mounted passenger cabins on Mercedes Benz vehicles at the Hassan Ashok, tagging a trailer along which had a kitchenette and place to keep your clothes and stuff. From one of the German passengers we learned that the touring company would pick them up at New Delhi airport, and drive them through out India stopping at places like Hassan Ashok for a rest halt. We also noted that the driver was a German and not a local. There after I never saw such a truck until that Top Gear article. BUT in that article the difference was they took a Tata 1518 truck to South Africa built this pax cabin on it and after plying in that and other countries is now in India. Apart from this Tata all their other trucks are Mercedes Benz. But no trailers tagging the truck like the German tour operator we saw in the 80s.
