I cooked a great lunch today for a big group, but still had quite a bit leftover when we were finished. I had about 25 cooked ribeye steaks, 5 gallons of baked beans and 50 servings of potato salad. Not wanting to waste all of the good food, I went by our local mission, and asked if I could leave it with them. The worker there was excited and said of course! Ill send some of our patrons out to help you bring it in! Six men and one woman came out and grabbed the aluminum pans of beans, potato salad and steaks. They couldnt have been more excited than if it was Christmas. I said Well I hope you guys are hungry, because these are 1 thick, 12-14 oz ribeyes. I hope you enjoy them! One of the guys wheeled around and said Steak?! I havent had steak in 30 years! God bless you, brother! Can I shake your hand?! If youve never helped the less fortunate in your area, whether it be your local mission, homeless shelters, soup kitchens, or The Salvation Army, Id highly recommend it. For you, and for your children. Its helping good people who just need a little helping hand. Some kindness. Some generosity. Its good for them...and its good for you. And you never know.....they may have a story that youd never suspect. Heres a pretty neat video showing just that.
