I dedicate my status to our dear uncle, oom Kotie (John) Rooiland of Lime Acres and Postmasburg, who died this morning in Kimberley, after surgery last week. We love and honour him so very much. He was a SARU rugby player in the apartheid years, who was also honoured with Springbok colours a few years ago. Moreover, he was a brilliant thought leader who fought against apartheid. His intellect and courage motivated us as youngsters to resist the apartheid ideology which wanted us to believe that we were lesser children of God. We honour a great son of the African soil. We will miss you dearly, oom Koot. I will miss receiving your phone calls with the mandate to mail a specific new publication to you…We mourn with antie Nannie and the children, oom Koots brothers and sisters and family.
