I discovered Maya Angelous collection of poetry I Shall Not Be - TopicsExpress

I discovered Maya Angelous collection of poetry I Shall Not Be Moved at the age of 11. Her blazing courage, unique sensitivity to rhythm, and the profound power of her words inspired me to dive deeper into my own poetry. Her art laid the groundwork that would pave my career as a songwriter. Today, as I flip through the same ragged, ear-marked, penciled-up book, I find her very words provide the comfort to soften this deep loss: ... And when great souls die, after a period peace blooms, slowly and always irregularly. Spaces fill with a kind of soothing electric vibration. Our senses, restore, never to be the same, whisper to us. They existed. They existed. We can be. Be and be better. For they existed.
