I feel bad when I look back at how much fun was poked at the first lady of Nigeria and the fact I made jokes as well. But heres the thing. I dont think its right to subject our first lady to such disrepute, granted she brought it upon herself. I feel as educated and civilised people, we shouldnt decend to such level and make jest of a woman because her spoken English is bad. I have friends who are Brits and still make grammatical errors never mind a fish seller who found herself in the position of first lady of the most powerful Black Nation. I blame her handlers and support staff. They failed her, she should only speak her native language or only read speeches. However, after all these weeks, I dont expect people to still be parading dia ris God jokes and waka come jokes. They are tired. Please lets focus our energy on how we can make an impact. Im all for criticisms, but as for me, making jest of our leaders is not the same as pointing out areas we feel they should improve on. Shalom.
