I feel the need to dispel the myth. Identical twins are not - TopicsExpress

I feel the need to dispel the myth. Identical twins are not identical. They share the same DNA. But epigentics...the genomes that turn DNA markers on and off...can change everything. From the moment the egg splits, and the fetuses begin having separate lives, identical DNA begins to develop differences in how it displays. Identical twins can have different physical features. Different personalities. Different health concerns. Identical twins may both have the DNA to develop autism, for example...epigentics is what turns that gene on or off, or can effect where on the spectrum each person falls. Epigentics carries beyond the womb into daily life. The longer identical twins are on the planet, the more different they may become. One may have strokes, and the other not. Thats epigentics. There is SO much more to twins than DNA. Think of it this way...DNA is the orchestra. But epigentics is what decides how the music is played. Another way to look at it...DNA is the puppet, but epigentics is the puppeteer. :)
