I have been given an amazing opportunity to potentially influence the way that domestic violence calls/cases are handled in Washtenaw County. Tomorrow afternoon I will be sitting down to complete a case review with members from the Prosecutors office, various police departments, victim advocates and other court personnel that have been involved with the multiple Stalking, Domestic Violence Charges, PPO violations, Probation Violations, etc... involving my abuser. I have been reviewing over 300 pages of documents that were forwarded to me in an effort to prepare which has been overwhelming to say the least. Victims are not typically invited to participate in these case reviews so I am incredibly honored that I am able to put a face to Domestic Violence and Stalking in our county and if nothing else they will think about my case the next time they respond to a DV or stalking call. I pray that I can also help those in power understand what it is like to be a victim, how it feels to live your life in fear and what it is like to feel that the system is not working to protect you and your family. I wish I was feeling better so that I could be on my A game! I will be speaking for all of my BTS sisters and all of our angels who no longer have a voice.... and yes, I promise to be on my best behavior!! Lol!
