I have gotten this question a ton about the title of this video. Heres my response: The problem with communicating a new concept with people is that nothing is truly original. Since things can sound similar to what a person may know, they can assume they already are a master of the subject matter you are discussing. The listener takes in information and compares notes to what they already know, then they make a decision based upon the associations made prior with the concept they are listening to. Hence, when I explain to a person that I do functional training and they respond oh you mean like crossfit, I immediately have to go into a lot of explanation. This video was exactly made to not have to explain this dilemma to people. So for those concerned at the fact that I single out crossfit so much, blame it on associative memory, not me. FUNCTIONAL PATTERNS IS IN FACT NOT CROSSFIT. ITS WHAT FUNCTIONAL TRAINING WAS MEANT TO BE WHEN IT WAS CONCEPTUALIZED AND ITS WHY AT FP WE USE THE TERM VERY UNAPOLOGETICALLY.
