I have just been looking at photos of the thousands and thousands - TopicsExpress

I have just been looking at photos of the thousands and thousands of people who said, Good-bye, thank you , to Cpl. Nathan Cirillo , as he made his final trip home , down Ontarios 401. While ( too many ) tributes of this nature have certainly taken place before this one, for some odd reason, seeing pictures of yesterdays public support, evoked two personal memories . Memories that, all these years later, still bring with them, deep-felt emotion. On the way to the cemetery to bury my father-in-law many, many years ago, we had to pass a public school. It was recess time and all the children were outside playing in the large school yard. When the funeral procession passed, spontaneously, and, with ( what appeared to be ) no exceptions, those young children stopped playing, and stood utterly still, facing the road. Thirteen years ago, on the way to that very same cemetery, along that same route, this time to bury my husband, we passed an old man. When he saw the hearse, he stopped his walking, turned inward toward the road, doffed his peaked cap and held it over his heart as we drove in front of him. I am usually able to vividly describe my feelings and emotions. However, this morning, I dont seem capable of adequately telling you what I felt on those two, specific occasions. I can tell you this, though...after looking at those pictures of all those strangers lined up along the route, while I dont know how to describe it , I know EXACTLY how Cpl. Nathan Cirillos family members felt as they looked through their tears and the windows of their vehicles. May his memory be for a blessing.
