I have the privilege of taking my kids to school each morning. Sure, it gets a little hairy from time to time, but I wouldnt trade those moments for anything. Id love to tell you that we have sweet Pinterest devotional time around the breakfast table before school but thatd be a big sweaty lie. We eat our scrambled eggs and Fruit Loops in shifts, in various stages of dress, each on our own personal emotional horse, thats just the way we roll. But I do pray over my kids in the car as we drive to school(s). Its pretty repetitive language, the Pharisees would call it absolutely boe-ring, but I cover the gratitude bases and petition for any specifics (tests, presentations, getting a locker open). I say amen and they may or may not agree based on their level of wakefulness, but thankfully the love of God isnt dependent on our verbal agreement or on some fancy-pants phrasing or some Rockwellian illusion of the life of faith...the love of God just is, and we wake in it, and drive in it, and learn in it, and live in it.
