I have to admit that when I was looking for a job, I was afraid that being transgender would cause a problem and make it harder for me. I dont have to reveal that to anyone but if a company does any kind of background check, Im a ghost as of 2 years ago. During my second interview I decided to let them know who I am. I did that because I didnt want any surprises or problems during the background check and I am proud of who I am and where I came from. It has not altered my success in doing my job so why should they see it as a problem? That is the mindset I had and it paid off. Once I revealed who I am, they wanted to start the hiring process. It was a great lesson for me to learn. You cant let your circumstances or who you are hinder what you can do or where you can go. Honesty, confidence, and a hard work ethic can take you anywhere!
