I have to say. I am feeling really proud at the moment about my daughter, Anastasia Radcliff. Over a year ago she commented how she would like to try walking again with braces. She hasnt been in walking braces for at least 10/11 years and her Ortho team at TXCH (after discussing it in a 3 hour meeting) wasnt so sure it could be done.. but they took the chance and felt it was necessary for her to try. No one could promise that she could do it. Well........... yesterday afternoon her braces FINALLY were ready. The girl strapped them on and she took EIGHT steps (with holding on to a walker)! The braces guy and I were pretty much floored! We werent sure she would even be able to take one step after feeling the weight of the braces. :D We now have to get back in with Physical Therapy and see where we go from here. She is so excited, as we all are. On another note.. I just dropped her off at her first volunteer opportunity with her schools Key Club. Her dad and I are happy to see her being able to volunteer and help others in need. I hope she will get an humbling experience out of this. Theyre making and handing out sack lunches today. The Key Club is a wonderful volunteer school organization that helps our community. They do amazing things for our school, other schools and our community. Anastasia is usually one that doesnt want attention.. but i had to share.
