I heard a sound bite today of President Obamas speech last night where he used a verse from Exodus to defend his executive order of amnesty for 5 million illegal aliens the specific verse was Ex 23:9 You shall not oppress a stranger: for you know the heart of a stranger, for you were strangers in the land of Egypt. Now to use this verse implies that we are somehow mistreating illegal sojourners in our land. They have violated our laws in coming here. Now had the President thought about it he might have read into Numbers and realized that his action is contrary to scripture which states in Num. 9:14 And if a stranger sojourns among you, and will keep the Passover to the Lord, according to the statute of the Passover and according to its ordinance, so shall he do; you shall have one statute , both for the sojourner and for the native. Now of course you could argue that this statement deals specifically with the Passover however if you think of how God works within his own law and executes it fairly and equitably this statement means exactly this there are no exceptions to the law based on ethnicity, economic status, or country of origin. If I am incorrect in my understanding I welcome you to correct me. It seems that if our President is going to use scripture to defend his actions he had better have more than a passing knowledge of it. I am still new to the study of scripture and his statement did not strike me as being used in the right context that is why went and checked up on it. I also knew from my study that there was a statement that meant one law for everyone. So I looked that verse up and I am sure there are more that corroborate what I am saying I just didnt dig far enough to find them all. President Obama claims he is using his executive authority to fix immigration system but the truth is what he has done is created a situation where the law is no longer applied equally to all he has made exceptions to the law and that quite simply is not how this country works. No one person is exempt from the law for any reason. Obama keeps saying we are a country ruled by laws yet he has no idea where the real power behind those laws comes from and continuously subverts the law for his own political ideology. Finally I have only this to say to Mr. Obama, be very careful sir how you use the Word of the True and Living God. His Word is not to be taken lightly or used to further any agenda but that of the Almighty.
