I just read a a study on top 32 diets and the standard Vegan diet got ranked 18th in the study, the Raw food diet were in position 29 and interesting enough, Paleo got ranked 31 where it was ranked amongst the top 5 till about a year ago. I am aware that we miss a Vitamin or 3 in our standard Vegan diet, but still firmly stand by it. I havent gone 100% Vegan yet, i doubt if anyone can, but it is my sincere mission to get there and i even made huge economic sacrifices in that respect and i am leaving my beloved area which i lovingly share with you every day. One can read so much on the topic and yes, one can be misled so easily as well. This is new to me, cooking special diets has been my forte for years, but the lifestyle is new. I followed many eating plans in my life, i am a poor Steve Jobs and surely i will never be an Icon like he was and to be targeted by so many dieticians in the anti- Vegan diet philosophy, will not happen to me either. Reading so many of your comments on this debate and the answers i follow, doesnt really put my mind at ease. Supplements, names i cant even pronounce, really puts me off. I am healthy, going on 50 and doesnt even take medication for a headache. I drink it away with water. Never been a supplement person in my life. I have done the total meatless and dairy free diet for 6 months, lost 46 kg and felt good, but now i want to do it for the rest of my life. I firmly believe the way the Vegan diet gets targeted is mostly a minority group type of reaction and i honestly still feel we eat much better and healthier than the average Joe out there, but then i come across the Green Smoothie girls video and starts wondering again about supplements.....
