I just read an article about a middle child being more likely to go into a certain profession than other children. It occurs to me that we are desperate to pigeon hole people into a group. To use an external force to explain behavior. Whether it be your zodiac sign, the moon you were born under, your eye or hair colour, your name, height, birthing order, whatever. It seems we are going all out to explain people and their behaviour. The thing is, we will never know unless we have a conversation with that, and usually more than one. While grouping people does have its place and, to a degree, is useful, it can cause more trouble than it is worth. If we look at people as being individuals, with both good and bad and a history which brought them to where they are, we might get along a lot better. If we stop making snap judgments and start finding out who that person is standing across from us, we might all be better off.
