I just received a couple of N-scale GP30B shells from Big Dawg - TopicsExpress

I just received a couple of N-scale GP30B shells from Big Dawg Originals, in todays mail, after having ordered it off of eBay on Wednesday. At first glance, the shell is well detailed. The rooftop fans are what weve come to expect from Atlas and Kato. The side detail looks crisp and to scale. There is a little cleanup, which needs to be done. It is designed to drop onto an Atlas GP30 frame, but this is NOT a paint and play shell. You will not be able to use the Atlas handrail instert. You will have to install your own after-market stanchions and handrails. It is detailed for the first series of GP30Bs ordered by the Union Pacific (700B - 726B); the units without steam generators. If you want to do 727B - 739B, I believe there are steam generator details available through Miniatures by Eric. In short, this is a nice addition to N-scale railroading, and if your model the Union Pacific from the mid-60s to the mid-80s, this would be a fine addition to your roster. After all, only UP had the GP30B, and up till now, the only way to get it was build one for yourself, or find a Hallmark brass model. The brass model, I purchased one back in the 90s, and it was a piece of crap. Its little wonder Hallmark went out of business, shortly thereafter.
