I just sent a newsletter to the entire FAB Racing database to give a CLCHM race recap, as well as announce some important changes to the FAB Racing Series. Again, Frank and I thank you tremendously for your continued support of our events. Look forward to hosting you at Sugar & Spice Half Marathon and of course, Angies Half Crazy! Half Marathon. ------------- Happy Veterans Day! Thank you to all the men and women who have served our country! We appreciate your service - past, present and future! Just want to do a quick race recap as well as discuss some future changes to the FAB Rracing series, let’s begin… 1. Results. The race results provided by Jack McClintic, Run Houston Timing, have been uploaded to the CLCHM website (under the results tab) and Facebook page. They can also be found at the Run Houston Timing website: runhoustontiming.net/site.race_results. 2. Photos. The photos were provided by Your Sporting Image by Karen Thibodeaux. The photos will be uploaded soon and can be found at yoursportingimage. 3. Thank you’s. Many, many thank you’s to Lobo Gymnastics, Valeo Physical Therapy, Taco Cabana, Buck’s Pizza, SnoBall Hut, Other Brother DJ and the fine officers of the Pasadena Police Department - your services were GREATLY appreciated! Major thanks to all of our volunteers which included various Girl Scout troops, Team RWB, various church groups and The Elks. All of you were again top notch in making the CLCHM event an even greater success. Last and certainly not least, we give thanks to you – our race participant. Seeing each of you at packet pick-up and race morning just affirms why we do what we do when it comes to our races. We are inspired by your will to finish, compete, overcome or whatever drives you to the finish line. Thank you for letting us be a part of your success and greatness when it comes to our sport. 4. The Changes. Mark Twain said it best, “Its not the size of the dog in the fight; its the size of the fight in the dog.” This is our seventh year to host our events through FAB racing. At that time, our two amazing kiddos were then 4 and 5 years old. As they have grown so have their activities and frankly as parents, we wouldn’t have it any other way. We share this because planning these races take a lot of time to prepare and take us away from family time. Planning these races, combined with family life – work life – firefighting life – and even our own joy in taking in a training run with TX GCRC or participate in a race, can sometimes be a challenge. Because of this, Frank and I have decided to make the following changes to our FAB Racing series outlined below. We feel that this plan allows us to maintain the important balance of family and quality to our races. If either is comprised then we would be failing as parents and as Race Directors; and again, both are too important for us to let that happen. It is with our sincere hope you will continue to show support for our races in the years to come, and we look forward to hosting you at our next event. The Changes: • We have decided to change the schedule of the FAB Racing series. The order of our series will be Clear Lake City Half Marathon in November, Sugar & Spice Half Marathon in February and end with Angie’s Half Crazy! Half Marathon in April. • Because of the series change, extra medals will be handed out at all future AHC! HM events starting with the 2014 AHC! HM event on Sunday, April 6th. a. If you participated in the 2013 Clear Lake City Half Marathon event and the 2014 AHC! HM event, you are eligible to receive the Macho Man Medal. b. If you participate in the 2014 Sugar & Spice Half Marathon event and 2014 AHC! HM event, you are eligible to receive the Macho Man Medal. c. If you participated in the 2013 Clear Lake City Half Marathon, 2014 Sugar & Spice Half Marathon and the 2014 AHC! HM event, you are eligible to receive the Triple Crown Medal. • We have decided to keep the Sugar & Spice Half Marathon in February an All-Female event. • We have decided to cap each race to the following: 600 participants for CLCHM & SSHM, and 750 participants for AHC! HM. Once these limits have been reached, we will not increase the totals. • We have decided to offer two packet pick-ups. The first will be held on the Saturday before the race at Valeo Physical Therapy from 10am-1pm. The second will be held race morning from 5am-6am. • We have decided to go to a bib chip timing device instead of the shoe tag. This will start with the 2014 Sugar & Spice event in February. • We have decided at after the 2014 AHC! HM event, we will no longer host a relay with our events.
