I know John Lennon did two “songs” where he just recorded air - TopicsExpress

I know John Lennon did two “songs” where he just recorded air in the studio, but I always had a fascination of doing the same thing before I knew he even did it. The time I recorded this, back in the late 80’s, all I had was a two track recorder and a mono tape recorder. With this particular short recording, I recorded the silence of the air with the mono tape recorder for a few seconds. It has some obvious tape hiss. I want to try this experiment again sometime in the now professional studio I own and see (or hear) more of “nothing.” But that’s an experiment for another day. I used the Audacity music editor to work on this “recording”, transferring it from a Maxell metal capsule 110 minute cassette tape using a Denon DRM-700 with filters on. This is recording #453.
