I prefer the term privileged over blessed. It doesnt sound like something randomly dropped from the sky on me and not someone else, and it communicates the way that structure influences the good things we experience or, when we experience bad, how badly or not we come out in the end. I like it because it isnt so arbitrary and forces me to name and evaluate that privilege. But there are times and moments where it is hard to decide which word to use. For example, it is difficult when I think about the number of wonderful, caring, intelligent people I know - many so different from me and each amazing in their own way. I know some of them from privileged positions, but they didnt have to be quite so lovely or supportive or kind. That does seem a bit arbitrary and lucky.
