I read an article on the news today about a woman from Germany - TopicsExpress

I read an article on the news today about a woman from Germany that lived in Missouri. She had been dead for 6 years in her car in the garage but nobody knew. Her bills were all paid automatically, online. Once the money ran out the house was foreclosed upon. A worker came by to repair a hole in the roof when he found her. It really upset me because this kind of thing could possibly happen to us. Probably not for 6 years because my husbands family would realize we were gone, eventually, but probably not in time to save our pets. Especially considering that everyone that is near and dear lives over 2500 miles away. I feel so sad for this woman that no one found her until now. That breaks my heart. Where are her friends? Her family? Not all of us have friends and family to rely on in times of crisis. Just today I was telling my husband that each and every one of us could be homeless in no time. All it takes is for us to lose our jobs, have our homes foreclosed on and have no safety net. We saw a couple pushing a shopping cart with two hot pink totes in it down the street. I said...hastily...why dont we pick them up and bring them home with us?. Because of fear thats why. Can you imagine bringing a homeless couple home with you? While I would like to think that I am a good enough person to do that, I am not. I am too scared at this point in my life to open up my world to strangers. Imagine going to sleep with one eye open...or having to go to work and saying ok then, we will be back later...have a good day but then coming home to an empty house with all of your guitars missing. I dont think so.
