I saw Senator Ian McDonald speaking on the repeal of the Carbon - TopicsExpress

I saw Senator Ian McDonald speaking on the repeal of the Carbon Price, saying that the climate is always changing and he cant imagine that it is caused by man made emissions. So I posted something on his facebook page to try and explain it to him. Climate Change millions of years ago occurred over vast time scales, nothing like rapid changes we are seeing due to rise in CO2 post the industrial revolution.ie 30%. Methane concentrations have almost doubled, nitrous oxide by 15%. These extra emissions are overloading earths natural ability to absorb the excess, throwing the system out of balance. On a cold night you get into bed and your standard blanket is not keeping you warm, so you get out of bed and throw on another blanket to trap some more heat , it doesnt have to be a big thick blanket, just enough to stop too much heat escaping. This is what the increase in greenhouse gases are doing to our planet, just enough to raise the temperature. The problem will be when this forcing hits a tipping point, enough temperature rise to release the methane trapped in the oceans and the northern tundras, this will add far more greenhouse gases than fossil fuel burning and lead to run away climate change. That will be like throwing an extra big thick blanket on your bed and you end sweating and uncomfortable because it is far too hot. Simple physics. There a plenty of things that the average person cannot imagine ,like the vastness of our own solar system, that the sun is so far away it takes light 8 minutes to travel the distance to the earth. Luckily we have scientists that can and have the physics to prove it.
