I saw this story today and commented on it. this is what i wrote: When I saw this story I felt I had to weigh in on the situation. The school did what they thought would defuse the situation in the fastest manner. It is obvious that the backpack was the object of ridicule and needed to be removed. I would like to say that I was a fat kid and was bullied relentlessly. It would be a nicer world if bullies were removed from our society however I really do not think that that is a realistic idea. My bullying didnt end until I finally stood up to the bully and proceed to break 3 of his bones in a very scary life changing fight. I left school one day a very scared boy because I was about to get my butt kicked by my bully. After winning (if you want to call it that) the fight I returned to a school of 4000 kids a hero for beating up the top bully in the school. Bullying will always be a part of society. Years later I met my bullies mother, she thanked me profusely for kicking her sons butt. She said from that day on he became a nice boy and very respectful to his elders. Bullying stopped in the school for the rest of that year. I imagine because I showed the bullies that you never know who you are dealing with and things may backfire if you push someone too far. I dont think this is a great way to handle bullies but in a real world situation what happened and how it worked out helped stop the situation. Im not saying that you should stop liking what you like but I am saying if you like something that you know will be ridiculed by others then those things are better kept to yourself and at home. Some kids are vicious and they will attack any thing they perceive as a weakness. It would be nice if it wasnt like that. When you go to school they must know you are not weak this my be accomplished by going to school with your back pack and be willing to defend your ideas. Telling bullies not to bully and suspending them for doing it only makes them angrier. SOMETIMES YOU JUST HAVE TO STAND UP FOR WHAT YOU BELIEVE IN AND BE WILLING TO KICK SOME BUTT.
