I sent my 30 year old son to Waitrose to buy 100 tea bags for me - TopicsExpress

I sent my 30 year old son to Waitrose to buy 100 tea bags for me this afternoon. He initially picked up 2 packets of 50 teabags at £3.20 each. He then noticed that next to these were boxes of 200 of the same teabags reduced to £7.49 (on Brand Price match) so he replaced the packets of 50 teabags and took 1 box of 200, reasoning that I would not be angry that he had bought more than was asked for if there was a cost saving of an essential involved. As he was walking past the end of the aisle he spotted some boxes of 100 of the same teabags in a promotional display. These were reduced from £4.40 to £3.00 per box so he returned the box of 200 to its original spot on the shelf and picked up 2 boxes of 100 teabags instead. On the way to the checkout he remembered that he was entitled to a free coffee on presentation of his My Waitrose card so he collected that before paying for the tea. He also had a 10% discount voucher valid until November 9th so he used that at the checkout. On examining his receipt he spotted that the coffee was shown as costing £2.00. The 10% discount was made on the total value of the tea and coffee (reducing it from £8.00 to £7.20) and then the entire £2.00 for the coffee was refunded. The total bill therefore came to £5.20 for the 200 teabags - and he had the added bonus of a free coffee. I am intending to ask him to join this group since he was able to recollect the entire trip, including costs involved, in minute detail.
